1. The Big Short (2015)

The Big Short shows how the financial crisis of 2007–2008 was triggered by the United States housing bubble. A group of investors bet against the US mortgage market, in 2006-2007. In their research they discover how flawed and corrupt the market is. The Wall Street weirdo Michael Burry realizes that a number of subprime home loans are in danger of defaulting.

Burry bets against the housing market by throwing more than $1 billion of his investors' money into credit default swaps. His actions attract the attention of banker Jared Vennett, hedge-fund specialist Mark Baum and others. Together, these men make a fortune by taking full advantage of the impending economic collapse in America.

2. Wolf Of Wall Street (2013)

The Wolf of Wall Street is the story of New York stockbroker Jordan Belfort. After taking an entry-level job at a Wall Street brokerage firm, Belfort founded his own firm, Stratton Oakmont. Together with his trusted team and a merry band of brokers, Belfort makes a huge fortune by defrauding wealthy investors out of millions.

However, while Belfort and his cronies partake in a hedonistic brew of sex, drugs and thrills, the SEC and the FBI close in on his empire of excess. It's a great trading movie with great acting by Leonardo DiCaprio.

3. Boiler Room (2000)

Boiler Room is a movie about a brokerage firm promoting pump and dump schemes. The brokerage firms also train brokers and hire stock broker trainees who are desperate to become millionaires. But it was later investigated by the FBI, the SEC and NASD regulators. This is more like a stock market movie and also a finance movie.

4. Wall Street I (1987)

On the Wall Street of the 1980s, Bud Fox is a stockbroker full of ambition, doing whatever he can to make his way to the top. Admiring the power of the unsparing corporate raider Gordon Gekko, Fox entices Gekko into mentoring him by providing insider trading. As Fox becomes embroiled in greed and underhanded schemes, his decisions eventually threaten the livelihood of his scrupulous father. Faced with this dilemma, Fox questions his loyalties. This is an awesome finance movie.

5. Rogue Trader – 1999

It’s a great trading movie, which illustrates one of the most common mistakes among traders – not cutting losses quickly! This is the top Forex trading movie all beginners need to watch.

Based on a true story, Nick Leeson, an ambitious investment broker working at Barings, a major investment bank, takes advantage of the thriving Asian market to make risky trades. He tries to hide the losses, fleeing the country, but eventually he has to face the consequences of his actions.

6. Trading Places (1983)

Trading places movie is a fun and great story about a snobbish investor and a wily street con artist who find their positions reversed as part of a bet by two commodity millionaire traders.

7. Margin Call – 2011

In this movie, we follow the key people at an investment bank, over a 24-hour period, during the early stages of the financial crisis. When an analyst uncovers information that could ruin them all, the key players at an investment firm take extreme measures to control the damage. It's a good movie.

8. Inside Job – 2010

Matt Damon narrates a documentary that provides a detailed examination of the elements that led to the collapse and identifies key financial and political players.
The movie takes a closer look at what brought about the financial meltdown. The global financial meltdown that took place in Fall 2008 caused millions of job and home losses and plunged the United States into a deep economic recession. Director Charles Ferguson conducts a wide range of interviews and traces the story from the United States to China to Iceland to several other global financial hot spots. It's a great finance movie.

9. Barbarians At The Gate – 1993

A true story of the leveraged buyout of RJR Nabisco.

In this movie, the president of a major tobacco company decides to buy the company himself, but a bidding war ensues as other companies make their own offers. Interesting finance movie!

10. Wall Street II (2010)

Wall Street II - Money Never Sleeps, is the second part of If you have seen Wall Street I. Now out of prison but still disgraced by his peers, Gordon Gekko finds himself on the outside looking in at a world he once commanded. Ostensibly hoping to repair his broken relationship with his daughter, Gekko forges an alliance with her fiance, Jake. Although Jake comes to view Gordon as a father figure, he learns the hard way that Gekko is still a master manipulator who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals.
